Very sad news
On 30th October 2009 I lost my much loved friend.   Jenny Bant of Aspiritous cats.   Jenny bred siamese, british shorthairs and devon rex and more recently, and very successfully may I add, selkirk rex.
Jenny became ill in January this year, shortly after new year she was admitted to hospital where it was found she had metastatic adenocarcinoma with metasis of the liver.   She bravely endured 18 weeks of chemotherapy resulting in the loss of her hair but not of her courage and belief that she would beat this.

She underwent further scans and was given good news that there was a satisfactory response to the chemotherapy with resolution of the liver mets and a significant reduction in the size of the mass. This was on 30th June 2009.

Unfortunately four months to the day after this news she lost her fight, it seems the cancer came back with such ferocity that even our brave, strong and determined Jenny couldnt kick it into touch, not this time.

She was so determined to carry on as normal that Jenny, being the stubborn, independant person she was refused to give in, she wouldnt accept help from us insisting she could carry on.   Our last show together was at the Kentish less than two weeks ago where Fabia, Karen and myself took her.   We pushed her around the show hall in her wheelchair, where she supervised the penning of her much loved selkirk kitten Aspiritous Uriah Heep aka Ryan.   It all proved too much for her so we made her comfortable in Fabia`s 4 x 4 with a comfy quilt and plenty of cushions.   She was in continuous pain but tried to put on her brave face but we knew how much she was suffering.   She refused to use the disabled toilet insisting that it was for the disabled not her !   That was Jenny for you
I spent many weekends with Jenny and I treasure those times so much.   I loved our times together chatting about shows, cats etc and even though it was a standard joke between us that I was unable to stay up past nine o`clock many times it would be in the early hours before I would look at the clock and we would laugh.   She struggled to managed at home but although we all pulled together to help eventually it became too much and she was admitted to a local hospice.

Jenny didnt have a very close family and her friends meant the world to her.

My heartfelt thanks go to Sue, and Fabia and also Sandra for keeping me informed and helping Jenny even though Fabia has two young baby girls and Sue is partially blind. Living 120 miles away made it difficult for me to be there as much as I would have liked but thanks to Sue keeping me in touch I was able to spend valuable time with her at the end.
Jenny was the proud owner of Ch Shadowsquad Angelodarkness (37) who Jenny made up to champion. Angel came back to me but will always belong to Jenny being the black she always wanted.   Angel has since gained two grands watch this space Jen !
Jenny you will be remembered for breeding the two most successful selkirks on the bench Gr Ch Wyrewood Conqueror aka William and Aspiritous Uriah Heap aka Ryan.   I know these two boys will go straight to the top and you should be so proud.
Rest in peace my friend
  I miss you so much
See the clock Jen almost time for bed !!
